MSN ensured a 6th place finish in the U13 first division with a fantastic first half display in the final league game of the season away to Chew Valley.
Chew Valley knew a victory would ensure them runners-up spot in the league but they were blown away with MSNs best first half display of the season. MSN were gaining a lot of possession and success down the right hand side with Mark, Harry and Joe S. Joe S cut in from the side line to beat the keeper at his near post before Jake added a second after a good move involving Bradley. Mark won a strong challenge before sending Joe S through with a good ball for Joe to make it 3-0. Other chances were created with Aran coming close with a header off a corner and Kieran B forcing the Chew keeper to pull off a fine save from a long range looping shot. Walter, Corey, Bailey and Luke in goal dealt comfortably with the few chances Chew created in the first half.
The second half drew the expected fightback from Chew but not before Kieran H forced the Chew keeper to make a good save. Chew scored after a defensive error allowed them through and they reduced the deficit further with a fantastic finish into the top corner from a free kick on the edge of the box. MSN continued to create chances spurred on by Sam S, Sam W and Joe A but Chew drew level when a long ball through allowed their striker to score with a looping header over the advancing Luke.
The boys were disappointed to draw a game they had been winning but they should take the positives from an outstanding first half performance against one of the strongest teams in the league.
Man of the match was Corey.
