1st Nov. 2011 - Midsomer Norton FC association with Welton Rovers FC

Some of you may have seen an article in the Somerset Guardian on 6th October 2011 that we have now formed an association with Welton Rovers FC.

This association came about as a result of a number of meetings between committee members of Midsomer Norton FC, representatives of Welton Rovers FC and Midsomer Norton Town Council. Welton were in the process of negotiating a new lease for their ground and as part of this the council wanted them to have more involvement with youth football. Welton now has an U18 team and their association with us was deemed to be in the interests of all parties.

The Midsomer Norton FC committee discussed this at our monthly meeting on 4th Oct 2011 and a unanimous vote agreed this association should take place. Please note we will retain our own identity as Midsomer Norton FC.

Already a set of goals has been provided and our U7's played their first game at Welton's West Clewes ground on Sunday, 2nd Oct 2011. We are now holding our committee meetings at the Welton Rovers Clubhouse and we are looking to build on this association.

A number of discussions have taken place where we are looking at holding social events and presentation evenings at Welton and the possibility of holding 6-a-side tournament at Welton is being considered.

There are a number of advantages if we become members of the club e.g. members can book facilities free of charge. Membership for adults is £6 per year and are due on 1st Dec each year. We would encourage parents of players to become members and make use of the facilities to show our commitment to this association. If you wish to do this please let the appropriate team manager know as we are keen to see how many new members this association creates.
